Is that 51 individual user name & passwords or all using the same user name and password for all of your galleries?

51 seems like a weird limitation that I bet few people hit.

iPhoto limitation: only 51 on-line galleries can be password-protected when using Album Viewable By. Apple says this is a MobileMe problem that is not slated to be fixed.

Well this review was alternatives to using MobileMe. Since iWeb now publishes via FTP then you can host the site any where.

What your asking for is different than what the post focused on.

But quickly I would say that if you want to step up from iWeb. Then the next app would be Rapid Weaver.

But for me it's making less and less sense to use a local non web based app. WordPress, Tumblr, Square Space have become so easy to use and yet much more powerful that a static site like iWeb or Rapid Weaver will make.

I have not seen any photo website that let's you flick through photos with the speed of the native photo app in the iPhone.

However, the closest you can get that really easy to do is to use the Mobile Me Photo Galleries that you can publish in iPhoto and Aperture.

These galleries automatically give you a nice iPhone photo browser that you can tap through each picture and also play a silent slideshow.

Try going to my gallery on an iPhone. You'll see what I mean.

There is also a free Mobile Me photo gallery app on the app store nowhere all your photos are browsable in the app and you can flick through them. You can even connect to other users galleries but only if they approve you.

Interesting analysis. I would like to know how I can create a website (hopefully very simply, like through iWeb) that allows iPhones to scroll from one picture to the next. I've seen the erasability of iWeb for publishing websites for photos, but it does not allow for the photo scrolling that the Photo App allows iPhone users to do.

I agree though the reliability of mobileme – especially for email – os so poor that I can no longer trust it. Am toying with giving up on it all together after hours of non-support from apple’s ‘dedicated’ mobile me support!

You are right Nick. MobileMe’s web gallery isn’t social at all. It’s a great viewing experience (a.k.a. it’s pretty) but that’s about it. I would say Flickr would be the best solution. Although to comment on photos people have to have a Flickr account. Maybe with the rumor of iTunes 9 getting more social friendly they would do the same for MobileMe.

Is it just me or is MobileMe missing a comment-function on pictures? I would really like to share pictures from, say, conferences with people who I do not have on Facebook. It doesn’t seem possible for them to comment on the albums I publish to my MobileMe album page. Am I in the wrong here?

Good article, and I agree with most of the comments. For me, with a MacBook, iPhone 3G, and iMac, it’s a no-brainer to have MobileMe. I have had it since it was iTools and .Mac. I wish the calendar syncing and sharing was better, though. My girlfriend and I share calendars and rely on them extensively, so we use Google Calendar for that. It’s really flaky and tough to get invites to work properly to my .me address. Come on Apple, make this usable!
